7th Street Entry Late Show

7th Street Entry, 701 First Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN

We’ve fit a lot of things into 15 years of The Hold Steady. We’ve released 6 albums and many other songs. We’ve played countless shows on three different continents. We’ve done most of the late night TV shows. We've played shows in all 50 of the United States. We’ve played Glastonbury. We’ve played Coachella. We’ve opened up for The Rolling Stones. And The Replacements. We’ve been personally insulted by Don Rickles. The list goes on...

But, somehow, we’ve never played the 7th Street Entry.

Until now.

Sunday October 14th, the day after we play the awesome Surly Fest, (tickets available at that link!) we are going to do two shows in one day at the 7th Street Entry in classic old school fashion: an early matinee (4pm) and a late show (8pm). This was the format for many classic shows in the 80s, and we wanted to pay tribute. The 7th Street entry is a Minneapolis landmark and host to many legendary performances -and the first place Craig saw the Replacements live. We will finally be adding this one to our list and we hope you will join us. We even timed to it so you can watch the Vikings and still make the show(s). The Twin Cities are such an important part of The Hold Steady story, and we can’t wait to be there with you for this incredible weekend.

SurlyFest

Festival Field, 520 Malcolm Ave. SE, Minneapolis, Minnesota

That’s correct. The Hold Steady’s long-awaited return to the 612 area code falls on Saturday, October 13th, at Surly’s Festival Field. They’re the exclamation point on our annual off-kilter spin on a traditional German Oktoberfest.

The party starts at 10 am in the Beer Hall and Beer Garden. Games, steins, music from Jake Rudh and Transmission, and German-inspired fare from the Beer Hall and Surly Pizza Upstairs. Entry is free, all ages, and open to the public!

At 2 pm, the doors to Festival Field will open, with an array of music, food trucks, games, inflatables, steins, a frankly ridiculous amount of beer, and all of it headlined by The Hold Steady. Tickets to enter Festival Field are $40, and are on sale NOW. This is an 18+ show.

312 Block Party

Goose Island Brewery, Fulton & Wolcott, Chicago, IL

Get ready for another 312 Block Party outside of the brewery. There's going to be plenty of Delicious Food, Live Music, and ALL THE BEER.

MAIN ENTRANCE AT FULTON & WOLCOTT

Get here early and stay a while, this event has been known to reach capacity well before the headliner takes the stage.

Cost: This year we're asking that you make a suggested donation of only $10 to your choice of a few local charities. Charities TBA.

Confusion in the Marketplace b/w T-Shirt Tux

The Hold Steady

Hey Everyone!

We are counting the days before we hit Toronto for our four night stand at The Horseshoe Tavern! Toronto is one of our absolute favorite cities to play, and the (Legendary) Horseshoe Tavern has hosted some classic THS shows. These will be no exception, to be sure.

Night one, Wednesday September 12, we will be paying tribute to the 10th anniversary of Stay Positive by playing the album in full, as well as a bunch of jams from all the other albums. So come raise a toast to 10 years of Stay Positive with us and hear a few that we don’t pull out very often….

It won’t all be looking backwards though, as we are pleased to announce some new songs: “Confusion in the Marketplace” and “T-Shirt Tux”. These were recorded in May at The Isokon in Woodstock NY. These were the same sessions where we recorded “The Stove & The Toaster” and “Star 18”. Josh Kaufman produced and Dan Goodwin engineered and mixed. We had a blast making these and hope you enjoy hearing them. We hope to play them for you in Toronto for their live debut.

If you choose to download these two songs, a donation will be made to benefit the K+L Guardian Foundation. ALL monies received from downloads will be transferred to the K+L Guardian Foundation.

The K+L Guardian Foundation was formed to benefit "Jersey" Mike Van Jura's children after he suddenly passed away in November 2012 at only 36 years of age. Jersey Mike was the unofficial leader of The Unified Scene.

Can’t wait to see you all there and celebrate the last four shows of Constructive Summer before we move onto what’s looking like an already pretty constructive autumn…

Thanks for Listening. Thanks for Understanding.
