    Welcome home, boys.
It’s so encouraging to hear these songs. I play in a Midwestern band: Cobalt & the Hired Guns. We work pretty hard, we have a lot of fun, we listen to your songs in the van, we kinda like getting drunk. We’re out of Chicago and we smile a lot when we’re on stage.
So we identify with all that.

One of our members is leaving for Seattle at the end of April. But instead of falling apart we’re picking up and moving on, and it’s going pretty well for us. We’re working on the new record in my basement.
So it was comforting to know you’d gone through the same moments.

‘Cause you and me, we’re the Hold Steady.

Thanks for being my comfort and my inspiration. See you in Chicago.
    ~Tom
